Portable Crib / Pack-n-Play (Vinyl Mattress Pad with FR Foam) — child safety profile
Severe riskPortable play yards and travel cribs with vinyl-covered mattress pads containing flame-retardant treated polyurethane foam.
What is this product?
Portable play yards and travel cribs with vinyl-covered mattress pads containing flame-retardant treated polyurethane foam. These serve as secondary sleep spaces where infants may spend 8-12 hours per night plus nap time. The vinyl (PVC) mattress cover is in direct contact with infant skin and face during sleep, releasing phthalate plasticizers and vinyl chloride monomer. The FR-treated foam beneath off-gases TDCPP and other organophosphate FRs through the vinyl barrier. The enclosed mesh sides of pack-n-plays trap off-gassed chemicals, creating higher concentrations in the infant's breathing zone than open-air cribs.
